About Us

The Muslim community of Fitchburg and North Central Massachusetts

Our Story

The Fitchburg Islamic Society (FIS) is the heart of the Muslim community in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Our masjid at 283 Main Street is a place of worship, learning, and fellowship for Muslims across Fitchburg and the surrounding towns of North Central Massachusetts.

Every day, our doors open for the five daily prayers, and every Friday the community gathers for Jumu’ah. Beyond worship, FIS is a place where families grow together in faith — through weekend Islamic school for our children, Quran study, and community events that bring neighbors together.

Our Mission

  • Provide a welcoming masjid for the five daily prayers and Jumu’ah
  • Offer authentic Islamic education for children and adults
  • Support new Muslims as they begin their journey in Islam
  • Serve our neighbors through charity and community outreach
  • Build bridges of understanding across the wider Fitchburg community
